Harriet Sherrard Nominated by FCG – Harriet Sherrard is the latest entry in the 1964 Miss Sampaguita contest. Harriet Banares Sherrard is of Santa Rita, and is the daughter to Mr. and Mrs. John W. Sherrard; Harriet was born in Iloilo City, Philippines. Harriet had also received her Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce from the University of San Agustin in Iloilo City. Harriet is currently working at the Bank of Hawaii and is sponsored by the Filipino Community of Guam
Socially Speaking – a series of social events: the Naval Communications Station officers and their wives had a gala-luau on Saturday, April 18th, with music from Four and a Gal, all in a farewell to John and Maureen Leonard and Joyce Dingle; Admiral Thomas A. Christopher, Capt. And Mrs. Marshall, Lt. and Mrs. Ellis Goslin, LCDR and Mrs. P. Linaweaver, amongst others, attended Edith Mckinzie’s recital last Saturday at the Tumon Jr.-Sr. High School; the Pump Room hosted a cocktail-buffet in honor of two couples, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth VanBuren and a goodbye to Mr. and Mrs. Ken Blacker; the ‘Art Comes to Andersen’ art show was a success, from which ‘Christmas Story’ took audiences breath away while Louis Pohl’s paintings from Honolulu’s Academy of Arts were inspiring; the local Red Cross chapter will sponsor a Fashion Show next week Sunday, May 3rd, at 4:00 p.m., at the Youth Building, admission being $1.00, for the benefit of the Red Cross; LCDR and Mrs. Harold McGrath will hold an informal get-together April 25th as a farewell for Philippine officers who will leave the island soon
