Counselors Needed – the Governor’s Committee on Children and Youth need counselors for their summer camp program. In July there will be two camp sessions: the first for the boys, from July 6th to July 15th, the second for girls, July 22nd to July 31st. For each session there will be 200 campers total, ranging from ages six to 16; the campers will be selected by a screening committee with a percentage of the total population taken from each village, including the Air Force and Navy. For every 10 children there will be one counselor, and there will be a nurse on duty at all times. The camp will be located a mile north of NCS Beach. Counselors will be paid for their services. 10 Million Asked – the Governor’s Office requested $10 million from the federal government for capital improvement and rehabilitation projects: $4,630,000 for the relocation of the Commercial Port; $2,225,600 for village development; $435,00 for the College of Guam classroom building; $1,414,000 for water systems; $637,000 for the Asan-Piti sewer system; $135,000 fish and marine development; $300,00 for pasture and forage; and $100,00 for a slaughter house. The Department of Interior was asked to submit the request for those mentioned previously to Congress. The appropriation will be under Fiscal Year 1966 and part of the $45 Million from the Guam Rehabilitation Bill

NASA Team Departs – Robert A. Rapp, Larry E. Brown, Dale Call, and Leonard C. Manning, all from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, was scheduled to leave the island following their survey for their organizations Gemini and Apollo projects

Sampson Appointed Medical Services Dr. – High Commissioner M.W. Goding appointed Dr. James W. Sampson as the new Director of Medical Services for the Trust Territory. Dr. Sampson hails from Cheyenne, Wyoming; he had been the Director of Wyoming State Public Health Services from 1946-1959. Dr. Sampson is a graduate from the University of Nebraska, College of Medicine, and holds a M.P.H. Degree from the School of Public Health, University of California. Sampson’s family is set to arrive in Saipan by April 30th
