Description

The Agat Junior High School will host the 1964 All-Island Junior High School Track and field on Saturday, March 23rd, which is sponsored by the Agat Junior High School and the Governor’s Committee on Children and Youth. Grades seven, eighth, and ninth are invited to participate: the boys may run at either the 100 yard dash, the shot put (eight pounds for 7th and 8th grades, 12 pounds for 9th grade), and the 440 yard relay. Seventh grade alone will be able to enter a 50 yard dash and a high jump competition as a broad jump will be offered for both seventh and eight graders. Eighth and ninth graders may also enter a 220 yard dash, 440 yard run, a discus throw, and an 880 yard run. A trophy will be awarded to the school that has accumulated the most points per grade, as color ribbons will be awarded as individual awards for first through fifth place for each event. Contestants may participate in each of the events. Participants do have age limitations though: 7th grade, age 13; 8th grade, age 14; 9th grade, age 16.
