Socially Speaking is a series of social events that features numerous prominent figures.
The Ship Repair Facility had a gala no-host reception in honor of Admiral E.A. Wright; the party was on Thursday, April 30th at the Top O’ the Mar. Guests included Admiral and Mrs. Thomas A. Christopher, Captain and Mrs. W.F. Marshall, CDR and Mrs. Frank Hartin, Mr. and Mrs. Bernardo Ebeo, Mr. and Mrs. Clayton McKinzie, Mrs. Elizabeth Perry, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Sawyer, Ltjg. and Mrs. John Naquin, LCDR and Mrs. Bill Sample, and LCDR and Mrs. John Hartland.
The Naval Supply Depot had a reception Friday evening, May 1st, at the Top O’ the Mar, in honor of the NSD inspection party. Guests included Captain and Mrs. A.C. Jackson, CDR and Mrs. W.H. Barnett, LCDR and Mrs. Jack Gove, LCDR and Mrs. William Fanelty, Lt. and Mrs. Robert Gage, Ltjg. and Mrs. J.E. Singleton.
Mr. Jack Powers and Mrs. Jane Powers will leave for vacation in the states; they will visit Jack’s parents in California and then Michigan to visit Jane’s parents.
Mr. and Mrs. George Connelley are leaving on May 12th for home leave in Virginia.
Becky Fanelty hosted a farewell luncheon for Mary Fischer and Ann Shaner on Thursday, April 30th. Guests included members from the Orote Point Officer’s Wives Club, Kay Dowdey, Glenda Lytle, Margie Smith, Charlene Summerlin, Mary Fischer and Ann Shaner.
Bob and Mary Fischer will leave the island on Monday, May 11th
The winning teams from the WIBC Bowling Tournament held at Playland Bowl were treated to a lovely banquet at the Panciteria; cuisine included Chinese food. Winning teams are: First place, Virginia Beene, Helen Ott, Jackie Swing, Millie Mathis, Bea Cabreara; Second Place, I. Aquai, Yuk Moylan, Lou Shiroma, Connie Keone, Betty Porter; Third Place, Mary Kowalski, Sand Sloper, Jo Moyer, Chick Harvey, Betty Kimberly. The Guest of Honor was Mr. Harold Burnett, the Attorney General of Guam, Mrs. Harold Burnett, Carme Dolley (President of the Marianas Women’s International Bowling Congress Guam), and Joe Cid (Royal Lanes).
