Description

A single panel satirical gag that pokes fun of Governor Manuel F.L. Guerrero and his administration. A local native man is struggling against a tree as the bottom part of a monster, perhaps a snake like hydra, wraps the end of its tail around the man and the tree. Towards the bottom of the tail a caption reads, ‘GOV. GUERRERO’S ADMINSTRATION’. Another caption, this time pointing toward the man, reads ‘TAOTAO GUAM’. The man himself screams ‘CONGRESS… INTERIOR…HELP!!’. The heads of the creature holds what looks to be fruit offerings to different groups of people: to the local people (the underdogs), a gift of surveys, waste, raw deals, high taxes, government inefficiency; to the off-island business and local favorites, a gift of money, land, and tax exemptions; to legislature, $2.5 million in government employees retirement fund; to the executive favorite assistant, less work, top salaries, free trips. Along with the comic, a short article from the Guam Times Weekly staff expresses their direction in which they are taking their press and publishing company, that, in their view, of, by, and for the public, for the people of Guam
