5 July 1944; 2nd Mar Div; Trapped Japanese, north of the town of Garapan, attempted to gain refuge by getting to their few ships in the Tanapag Harbor. Marines quickly brought artillery into play, the ships and Japanese were sent to the bottom. One Japanese who didn't make the boat is on the beach. Photo by Cpl. Robertson
