Description

The Guam Fine Arts Association had a regular meeting last week in which a program which had a film showing, painting displays, and music. Roughly an audience of 60 people saw ‘The City of Cathay’, heard ‘The Moldau’ and viewed paintings from Mrs. May Faaland. The ‘City of Cathay’, from Taiwan, is a cinematic showing of a famous Chinese painting from the Sung Dynasty. The ‘Moldau’ is a musical description of a river through a valley and village in Bohemia. Faaland’s paintings, all oils, eight land and sea scenes, eight portraits, and one modern piece; thee include snapshots of Inarajan, while the ‘Sultan’s Palace’ is the only modern work, a mixture of deep blues and reds. Paul Souder, president of the Fine Arts Association finished the meeting. Mrs. Mary Lawbaugh, a winner from the Andersen Art Show for her print ‘Eden Tree’, was named program chair. Joanne Dunne, another winner from the Andersen Art Show for her painting ‘Hot Pink Apples’, was chosen to handle traveling exhibits to the states.
