Navy Log Weekly features a series of public releases from the Navy, Coast Guard, and Marine communities.
Captain Robert C. Giffen, Jr., Commander Submarine Squadron Fifteen, Polaris squadron of the Pacific, recently visited the island of Guam to get acquainted with the island before his deployment here with the squadron of Fleet Ballistic Missile, FBM, submarines. The Polaris squadron will have seven FBM submarines and a FMB submarine tender; the tender will be anchored at Guam and the submarines based at Peral Harbor. The flagship of this squadron will be the USS Daniel Boone, SSBN 629.
An inspection team that consisted of the Commander in Chief of the U.S. Pacific Fleet, Commander of Fleet Activities Command, the Navy Inspector General, a representative from the Bureau of Ships, a representative from the Bureau of Weapons, a representative from the Bureau of Supplies and Accounts, a representative from the Bureau of Medicine, a representative from the Navy Ship’s Store Officer, and the Chief of Naval Operations visited the island for its bi-annual inspection
