Governor Proposes ‘Marginal Loans’ – Governor Manuel F.L. Guerrero said that he will ask the upcoming session from the Seventh Guam Legislature on providing marginal home loans made through local lending agencies. While the Governor was on his trip in San Francisco and Honolulu, it was confirmed that he met with officials from Bank of America and Bank of Hawaii for proposals. The proposals include funds in the Government of Guam retirement service that could be pledged to insure in the second 10 years of 20 year home loans in low cost brackets. It also has been confirmed that the Governor has met with Stowell Wright, the director of the Federal Housing Administration in Honolulu

Toxic Seeds Under Study – Acting Governor Denver Dickerson called a meeting in which Dr. L.T. Kurland from the National Institutes of Health, and Dr. William Peck, Director of Guam Health, conferred the toxicity from the seeds of the cycad palm, locally known as fadang. The Fadang is a wild plant found all across the Marianas and was used as a source of flower for local residents

Urban Renewal Director Named – Governor Manuel F.L. Guerrero announced that Benson I. Hattem will be the new Director of Urban Renewal

Kaiser Signs Dededo Contract – Kaiser interests have used their option on government land in Dededo for large scale construction of low cost houses made of concrete. David Slipher, the vice-president of Kaiser Hawaii Kai Development Corp., gave the signed papers to the Governor. Grove Fox, the local manager for their firm, said that the first 40 Kaiser units in Piti are almost complete. Fox also said that the Dededo site should be development should be finished in August, followed by construction, which should be finished in October. Included in these plans are the construction of a sewer disposal plant new trunk lines, and new lateral lines, all paid for by the Guam Rehabilitation Bill
